With the goal to bring a unique, customized spec residence to the market, this South Austin development project was a collaboration between PPA and Agave Build. Taking inspiration from Cape Dutch architecture, the stucco exterior and distinctive gable ends announce the home on its corner property. Gridded windows create a contrast to the white exterior finish, add texture and offer a human-sized scale to the otherwise exaggerated gable forms. Along with the reflective exterior color, the residence utilizes insulated exterior sheathing to better insulate against the Texas heat.

As a counterpoint to the open-plan living of most modern homes, the home’s interior layout was carefully considered to provide a more traditional living experience with separate spaces for formal entertainment, family enjoyment and relaxation. The interior finishes walk the line between traditional and modern as they lend personality and punch with a variety of seemingly disparate yet harmonious colors, patterns and textures - at once evoking elegance, comfort and a punky zest without being fussy, sloppy or garish.
